Abandoned Faith are a five piece original heavy rock band from Sheffield, UK.
Concentrating solely on original material, the band are drawing on their extensive musical experience to write powerful and unique songs that are both compelling and emotive.
History
Abandoned Faith initially started coming together in the early part of 2011. Steve had not long left a local rock covers band and was looking to start an original project with new band members. He spent several weeks searching for people to join the band and finally placed an advert on the internet to which Rich responded.
Steve and Rich met up at a practice room in Sheffield in early February. Rich had brought along a friend who could sing and played bass and had also arranged for a drummer to come down too, unfortunately he never turned up. The guys banged through a few covers and it was immediately apparent that they all complemented each other musically. The band was born.
Over the next few months the guys met regularly to jam out some ideas and the first few riffs for the first couple of songs were written. During this period the guys were actively searching for a drummer and finally found one who lived nearby. Unfortunately, Rich's friend decided that the band wasn't for him and quit, leaving the band short of bass and vocals.
Rehearsals took place with the new drummer and the songs started to take shape. A new bass player was recruited and brought along a vocalist in the form of Jay. About this time the band were thinking of a name and Jay came up with the idea of Abandoned Faith which immediately stuck.
The new bass player soon left the band. Steve knew Roman from a previous band and a quick call brought Roman to the next rehearsal where he fitted in perfectly. At this stage it was felt that the current drummer wasn't quite right for the style of music that the band were writing so he was asked to step aside. Aaron was well known to both Steve and Roman and was asked to try out. The first rehearsal with the current line up in July 2011 was an immediate success with all members of the band working together perfectly.
After a couple of months spent writing material Abandoned Faith performed their first gig to a packed bar at The Station where they rehearse. The reception was overwhelming.
The gigs then came thick and fast with the band performing at some legendary Sheffield venues; The Leadmill, The Plug and Corporation amongst many others.
At the end of 2011 time was spent in the studio recording the first EP. Although well received, the band were not happy with the end result and decided not to officially release the EP but rather release the tracks for free download as demos.
In March 2012 Abandoned Faith received their first radio play from BBC Introducing in Sheffield. This was quickly followed by more air time on other stations in the UK and as far afield as the USA and Australia.
More time was spent in the studio in early 2012 recording the first official single The Life She Leads, released on 01/08/2012.
