Ade Cull SHE BRINGS ME FLOWERS Self Released **** Sensual and attentive album from a world-wise character that has numerous informative messages to pass on to whoever wishes to listen.
To hear this debut release from an artist who lives in Portsmouth, you wouldn’t think of his first profession as a defence scientist being true but a chap who goes around the country spreading his in-depth messages must surely enrapture the crowds at his gigs. Over half of the tracks on this album are self-penned ones, with Lorna being the finest example of this. With an awesome sounding yet simply played acoustic picking style, Ade includes several yodels throughout this song which sounds rather beautiful and by no means does he let himself down by attempting this very difficult vocal move. Reminiscent of Knocking on Heavens Door at times, Lonely Boy tells of an emotional story which I’m sure Ade might have experienced at some time due to the enthusiastic spirit which this song is delivered in. The one track on the Album which isn’t self-penned or traditional is Like a Rolling Stone. A tender version of a well-renowned tune, this song is actually the concluding track which really is a beautiful way to end this fine album due to the quality of the vocals and picking that is present. Ideally, this album should have been longer as further tracks finding themselves on this album sure be a joy to hear.
