There are two artists with the name Alarmist. 1. A multi-instrumental four-piece from Dublin, Ireland (active from 2008 to present.) 2. A noise rock 4 piece from Portland, Oregon. (Active from 2003 to 2005.) 1. Alarmist are an instrumental four-piece from Dublin, Ireland who formed in 2008. They are Neil Crowley, Elis Czerniak, Osgar Dukes and Barry O'Halpin. All members are multi-instrumentalists, playing an equal role in bringing together the organic and electronic elements that form their sound. Alarmist build their songs from tightly wound melodies and frenetic rhythms, a blend of interlocking guitars, glitchy electronics, dueling percussion and rich wind arrangements. They released their self titled debut EP on Indie Irish label ElevenEleven in August 2011. 2. Alarmist formed in Portland, Oregon and were active from 2003 to 2005. Their deconstructed Art-punk basement party jams were informed as much by brains riddled with MDMA and suits with real dollar bills pinned to them as they were by Black Flag, The Birthday Party and U.S Maple. Over the course of their short career, they developed a small but loyal following in their hometown, competed in a battle of the bands in a bar of questionable repute in suburban Portland, and completed a full length record for San Francisco's Frenetic records, lugubriously entitled "Evil Works: Get Rich or Try Dying: Evil Works." The band broke up after their only U.S tour, but all four members remain active in the projects Ghost to Falco, Inca Ore, the Cysts and Jackie O Motherfucker.
