In the early days of 2010, five affable gadabouts from Melbourne High School got together to form a band in order to express themselves, find a creative use for music periods, and have something to break the ice at parties with. Little did the boys know what was in store for their project. Only a few months after their formation, Amber Lamps' striking alt-rock sound found exposure on Triple J Unearthed, and won them their first Push Start heat. They went on to pass through and win the regional final later in the year, developing a creative, eclectic repertoire of original songs and excelling as a VCE Music Performance group along the way. In the early months of 2011, Amber Lamps were featured at the Top Class music showcase, and took out Freeza Push Start's grand prize in front of a packed hall at the Push Over Festival. They have since played with bands such as The Vines and Jebediah as well as being FReeZA Artist of the Month for April. The band's performance at Push Over also garnered them feature articles in major Melbourne magazines Beat and Spress. Amber Lamps are currently mixing their debut EP while hunting for gigs and would love for you to experience their electrifying, dramatic, cerebral, and at times downright sexy pieces of work!
