American Men is Claude Speed, Scottt Chevrolet, Alilloyd and John Awesome. They specialize in Miami Lazer Rock and sound like a city of neon and vice. Except when they do improv drone sets, when they sound "a bit like Tangerine Dream". American Men supposedly got their name by randomly selecting two pairs of numbers and looking up the corresponding page/word in a copy of Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow. American Men released a record, Cool World EP, alongside a record of remixes by Falty DL, Ikonika & Optimum, Machinedrum and Hudson Mohawke, in the summer of 2010, on LuckyMe. American Men supposedly got their name by finding a phrase which would be statistically the least likely to produce a relevant result on Google. American Men supposedly got their name after weekend in Barcelona, when the members woke up unable to remember anything that had happened the night before. The only evidence of their activities was a smashed ouija board and a grainy VHS depicting underwater pyramids and a pitched down voice chanting "American Men" over and over again. American Men were originally called Band Of Garies, due to the fact that everyone in the band really has the first name Gary. Then Band Of Horses came along, in which every member has the name Horse. So they chose the next best name, American Men.
