Amy Bell is a Finnish rock band from a town called Forssa.
Amy Bell was formed in the end of the year 2005 when Miku, Antti, Tommi and Matti decided to start playing in addition to their other bands Muse-covers and possibly some other cover-music. Amy Bell's first rehearsals were kept on December 2005 where they rocked a few Muse-songs and a little bit Weezer.
On January 2006 AB got the thing going on properly when they were able to play more Muse-songs together. Generally their sessions was carried out on weekends and especially on Sunday afternoons. At the time AB often used to enjoy a little bit of "Sunday-alleys" to finalize the weekend, waking up wherever they were forced to, so AB was a fun way to end a vivacious weekend and take a couple another drinks.
On May they experienced that Amy Bell is also ready to go their first gig and a gig happened in the local theater house in Forssa at Formu-Rock. On June AB met a brick wall and ten turtles. You see, their rehearsal place was banned because of the unacceptable behavior of the other bands. Just when AB would have time to play also during the weeks, they didn't have a place to play anymore.
So AB started looking for another place to play for their act. On August they also found one, from a sporting house in Vaulammi. No sooner said than done and the equipment to the new place and rock rock again. In here AB also realized that cover-band time is over and they started to write their own music.
They didn't have non-problem time in Vaulammi either because schedules were very difficult to arrange between the house and the band members. Sporting house had events and other sport-stuff, and Matti and Miku studied in a different city during the weeks, not to mention Antti's floorball hobby.
On December 2006 Amy Bell decided to make a record. The place was Eurajoen Kristillinen Opisto (Christian Institute of Eurajoki) where Miku was studying "deepstructure of music" then. Everything was planned okay and the plan was to return with a five-song demo to home. AB spent three days in EKO's studio and the recording was agony. Microphones were broken, skills of studio working lacked and the sounds were horrible. In the other hand, AB spent a pleasant times together between the band members at EKO but the recording was shit. What a harm that the recording was the reason why AB stayed there. AB didn't play with the booze there, the place was very Christian, hihi. Matti, Tommi and Antti slept nights in the institute in a rooms they rented, they cooked and enjoyed watching TV. Miku was sleeping in his girlfriend's house a couple of kilometers away from the institute. Anyway AB weren't able to get any results from there. With all instruments and vocals they accomplished four raw versions which are not for publicity. Better luck next time and back to practice.
AB continued this way for a while, till the middle of February. A lot of microwave pizzas, chicken mixes, beer, wine, fast-food was consumed... But why till the February? Of course because Matti left the homeland and went to Italy for an exchange to spend a hilarious exchange student-life. It was fun time but crap thinking of band and playing. So AB were totally silent about four months. Matti came back home from Italy for middle-summer festival to enjoy Finnish summer and the intention was to start band stuff right away.
But, the janitor of sporting house announced that there will be some repairs in their rehearsal place so they have to move the equipment to somewhere else for a couple of months, gah! AB met two problems; they still can't play so the break continues and also the problem of keeping the stuff somewhere. They got their equipment to some places to wait the repairs to finish and AB decided to wait for it.
Until happened the thing, which speaking of AB are not the only band, and the sporting house in Vaulammi BURNED! The part of their equipment, Miku's guitar amplifier & speaker and their PA-speakers, AB left there for keeping, burned also to ash that creepy Friday the 13th of July. At the same time they understood that AB don't have a place to play anymore at all, again. So, let's go and look for it.
No sooner said than done and thinking. It was rewarding. Matti remembered that he visited with Ilkka Mäki-Tulokas somewhere in the woods to check out some training place a few years before. They were repaired an old henhouse to training place for musicians which were themselves at the time. So Matti decided to call Ilkka and inquire if it could be possible that there is a place to play for AB. Ilkka contacted the owner of the real estate and gave Matti's number. They called Matti and AB understood to make a deal about a new training place for AB. The situation was so ideal that the place was empty so AB wasn't forced to negotiate about the training schedules with other bands. Equipment with AB and let's go for it.
Since July AB have kept a training place in Somero and AB must admit that it is the best and the most flexible place to play AB have had. AB found time to train pretty nicely in the end of summer because Matti spent his summer in his home city and Miku was unemployed vagabond so AB was able to plan the schedules almost perfectly.
On August 25 AB made a debut (AB thinks they can call the gig which is the first where they play their own music as a debut) in Eurajoki at event called Venetsialaiset. The day was sunny and people were happy. Anssi-boy Alasentie was supporting AB by driving a car and carrying equipment, thanks to him. AB was the first band at the event and they played about 9 songs, a few cover-songs and the rest of their own. The gig was pretty yeah, excluding a few mistakes of course. But in the very end the debut was fluent. After AB the stage was rocked by Komedia Vulgaria and Euforia. After gigs they had a pleasant times together.
Autumnlike Amy Bell is a band which tries to negotiate the schedules and that's why also a bit of stormy line. Miku studies in Helsinki at the moment, Matti's still studying in Hyvinkää and Antti's floorball urgency is even bigger because of their team did the level jump. The air has been purified because of the schedule disagreements all the time but the future looks bright.
