Andrew Howie is a singer-songwriter from Scotland. From 2000 – 2013 he released a vast amount of music under the name Calamateur. You can find it at http://music.calamateur.com. His new album, The Great Divide, is the first to be released under his own name. It retains many of the characteristics of his work as Calamateur (guitar-based songs submersed in other-wordly electronica) but is a huge step-forward in terms of songwriting and production. Andrew regularly performs intimate acoustic live gigs, often in the form of house concerts. His recent live and recorded collaborations have involved work with Scottish collective The Grand Gestures, Jo Mango, Iain Morrison, Yvonne Lyon, Kim Edgar, Steve Lawson, Rachel Sermanni and David Scott (The Pearlfishers). His music has been used in BBC Three drama Lip Service, as well as in several short films. He has completed several songwriting commissions, including work for Vox Liminis, Blythswood Trust and Inverness Old Town Art. Andrew is also in demand as a songwriting and music tutor. Having recently gained an MA in Songwriting and Performance (made possible after winning The Gerry Rafferty scholarship) and a BA in Popular Music, he has worked with several schools, prisons and youth organisations throughout Central Scotland.
