Arthur Barr is a leading example of a new breed of talent to emerge at the end of the last decade. Combining a burning passion for electronic music with nifty work behind the scenes he has crafted a solid niche for himself in today’s highly dynamic scene. Sitting back and letting things take their course is not part of his mantra.
From seedy beginnings swigging vodka and providing beats at Ibizan strip joints while just nineteen to skilful A&R work building his Fullbarr imprint, Arthur has come a long way in just three years. Based in Leeds and able to soak up the notorious partying spirit of the city has armed him with an innate knowledge of how the floor works and how to move it. Developing a hypnotic, late night style that flexes the funk of house with the drive and power of techno, his skills have gained international attention and big praise from the lieks of Glimpse, Yousef, Eddie Halliwell, Nic Fanculli, Riva Starr and other top players.
In the club is where Arthur really comes alive. With gigs at Miami’s WMC, Czech Republic, Greece and Ibiza as well as top clubs around the UK and a residency at London’s notorious Public Life, his dedication to the cause doesn’t stop there. Concocting well-thought-out sets that wander in on dark corners while sweat drips from the walls, Arthur is distinguished by his relentless output of top quality mix sets. DJ Mag described his sets as “mouth watering toe tapping techno”, while his Electrothearpy Mix won IDJ’s prodigious Raw Talent competition in 2007, he followed this with a runners up spot in 2009., and Winning it again in April this year.
Extending his expression through music Arthur’s own Fullbarr imprint is already landing heavy blows despite its fledgling status. Releasing both physically and digitally the label’s strengths lie in a core of producers that represent some of the hottest and most unique talent rising from the UK. Savvy enough to pluck them from obscurity, Arthur has unearthed the likes of Robert Cashin and Retrac whose status on the circuit continues to grow.
Fullbarr is moulded in the image of its creator, releasing intriguing packages that are equally twisted and warm, perfectly levelled to induce glowing reactions from discerning floors. Endorsed by the likes of Mark Broom, Danton Eeprom and Brendon Moeller, who lent their names to projects, regular label support is coming from Sven Vath,Slam, Soulclap, Francios K, Paco Osuna, Jennifer Cardini, Glimpse, H.O.S.H, Daniel Sanchez, Thomas Schumacher, Andrew Grant, Nic Fanciulli, Mark Henning, James Teej,DJ Hell, Terry Francis, Laurent garnier, Sei A,Stacey Pullan, Agnes 2000 & One , Michel De Hey and many more
