There are 2 Folk bands called Band Of Hope 1. Split Up in the 1990s 2. Still active around Oxfordshire 1. Initially convened in 1992 Band Of Hope were an English folk "supergroup" who produced one sole album, 1994's excellent "Rhythm & Reds". Lyrically it was informed by singer Roy Bailey's socialist views, with excellent musical and vocal assistance provided by folk luminaries Martin Carthy (guitar), Dave Swarbrick (fiddle), John Kirkpatrick (squeezeboxes) and Steáfán Hannigan (pipes, percussion). Chris Parkinson later replaced Kirkpatrick for 1995's 'Last Time Around' tour, after which the group disbanded. 2. "Causing a stir on both the BBC Introducing circuit as well as the unnaturally vibrant Oxford scene, Band of Hope are experts of dark, inherently tragic country-folk, in the realms of Villagers and the ballads of Jonny Cash."
