Beam Up trawls the rich seas of traditional musics of the planet and beams down messages from the future to compose. Beam Up plays bass, trumpet, percussion, analogue bleepers, software, recorded music and machines. It's a solo project birthed in Australia around 1998, which features guest musicians from all over the planet. Past bands of note he's been a member of include High Pass Filter, Breather Hole & Circushead. He also guested regularly with Japan's Bush Of Ghosts in the early 2000s. Biggest influences are dub and the Jamaican soundsystems purpose built to project this ancient-futuristic sound. Beam Up grew up in England and first heard reggae on the radio in the 70s in tandem with the Clash, Kraftwerk, BBC Radiophonic Workshop & John Peel. Since then Beam Up has absorbed sounds across the globe - having been exploring the music of the Balkans since the turn of the Century. Along the way he's remixed Hava Nagila in a Drum & Bass style + dubbed out Austrian [dunkelbunt]'s balkan reggae influenced tunes. Recent studio excursions have come out on Australia's Little Rascal Records, German/Australian label Beaming Productions, Germany's One-Drop Records and Japan's Soul Fire label. Coming in 2013 - roots reggae based 7"s and album. Beam Up currently resides in Berlin, Germany. More details at: www.beamup.org
