She is a refreshing example of home-grown singer songwriter talent, having grown up in rural Nottinghamshire. Too many of the best female artists in this field are from across the pond, and the English accent and lyrical references to British life make a sweet change. Additionally, she releases her recordings independently, on her own label, which is incredibly admirable. The melodies are often strong and infectious, the instruments are tasteful, and the lyrics are heartfelt and honest...this is a wonderful headphone-listening album...Standout tracks include the jaunty, up-tempo Something Else, the delicate and ethereal Winter & Rain, the upbeat and, well rootsy Roots and the atmospheric Make Believe...An impressive start to a journey which hopefully sees Goldsmith setting her talent loose...
