Bernhoft (alternatively typeset as Bern/hoft) is the stage name of Norwegian singer-songwriter Jarle Bernhoft. After becoming a solo artist in 2005 after the dissolution of Span, Bernhoft released some recordings, heavily inspired by the genres of soul, funk, and related musical styles, under his birth name. In 2011, he released the album Solidarity Breaks under the name Bernhoft, now based in Oslo, Norway. The album eventually claimed the #1 spot on the Norwegian album charts, and while having gained a solid fanbase ever since the beginning of his solo career, Bernhoft finally rose to national fame.
