Beth McCarthy is a young, acoustic singer-songwriter from York who has been gigging with her acoustic guitar since mid 2010. Taking her influences from acoustic behemoths such as Ed Sheeran, Nizlopi, Taylor Swift and the lyrical stylings of The Script, her style has been described as acoustic pop with a slight 'country-esque twang'. Beth plays a mix of her own songs, some poignant, some catchy, all well-crafted, and cover versions in her own dynamic style. After playing numerous gigs in her hometown, Beth is now reaching a wider audience having played various different music venues during her two tours of England, and also having played the Oxman Stage at Galtres Festival 2013. Following the successful release of her first single 'Hero' on to iTunes in September 2012, Beth has reached a new level in her career after organising the production, launch and release of her debut EP 'Northern Light' in the summer of 2013. Beth is constantly growing as an artist as she continues to write songs and find her own style through performing at every opportunity given. She has played recognised support slots with bands such as Shed Seven and Paper Aeroplanes and has proceeded to perform not only as a solo artist, but also with other musicians to create a more 'full-band' feel to her music. Beth's ability to tell a story through her songs, combined with her cheeky on-stage presence is something that engages the audience on a more personal level and makes her performances feel more like an experience than a show. Beth's passion for music is evident in her performance and songwriting, yet her lighthearted, bubbly attitude, both on-stage and off, makes her music easy to relate to and enjoyable to watch.
