The Caulfield Beats is an electronic duo from a primarily aesthetic background. Most of the influence is drawn from blues, garage and psychedelic rock, punk and (in respect to electronica) techno/trance and especially minimal techno. There is also much inspiration taken from the arts, and social and political theory. They concentrate on the experience of music as an art form which engages its audience on more than one level. For this reason there is an emphasis on the live aspect, with live visual projections and a strong sense of atmosphere (from which the mixed tracks are eventually derived). Songwriting is usually created through collaging conceptual sampling and careful synthesis with minimalist harmony and a trance like feel; there is also a DIY emphasis on performance and in writing (since they were self taught and experimented from a young age).
