Hitting the music scene from Leeds, UK five-piece Chasing Dragons are building their ranks of fans with their fresh, energetic performances proving their ability to capture the audience. Described often as a female-fronted mix of the likes of Avenged Sevenfold, AFI & Aiden, with an energy and presence akin to that of Paramore. With their chunky riffs, harmonious guitar licks and a bit of Brody Dalle thrown in for good measure, the band are steadily building their army.
Since forming fully in January ’11 the band have been playing at as many different venues as they can dip their fingers into including The Cockpit, Gasworks, Bradford Rios, Empire, Corporation, Blackflag, Jabez Clegg and many more. They have been fortunate enough to take to the stage with bands including Attack!Attack! and The Headstart and have been rocking out with bands of all genres from pop punk to rock and roll, heavy metal and beyond. Chasing Dragons have shown their ability to adapt their performance to whatever comes their way.
2011 saw them play at festivals such as Metal Fringe 2011, part of Leeds Fringe Festival. This revolutionary new festival has given them a huge local media boost with some very complementary radio interviews, plays and reviews. The band also rocked out the main stage at Sheffield LGBT Pride in July ’11 to a huge audience of 5000, seeing them sell out their entire merch stock with fans demanding future tours. The year also saw them jumping head first into the studio with producer Graeme Atkinson. The band said goodbye to ex-bassist and founding member Joe Hayton in November '11 and have since welcomed Ant into the family.
"Next band to play was the newly formed Chasing Dragons who have only been playing together since January this year. Following their performance we were amazed that the band haven't been playing together longer, as they have such great chemistry and an overall sound that seems like it's been perfected over many years. On stage they had a positive attitude toward everyone there and constantly interacted with the crowd. Lead vocalist Tank left the stage to mingle with the crowd during the set, despite recovering from recent knee surgery. They're recording their EP in October, which is due to be out early next year. As we were intrigued by their name, we asked them where they got their inspiration. 'Playing video games, since most of us spend a lot of time playing dragon based games' Chasing Dragons were fantastic and we should expect more from them in the future! Their success at Metal Fringe indicates they will be successful in the music business while having fun doing what they love! We do hope so!"

The band released their early demos “Into The Pit” and “Under The Earth” to eagerly awaiting fans in May ’11 and have recently released their debut EP “Take Flight For A Firefight” with production from Graeme Atkinson (Take The Seven) and Carl Bown (While She Sleeps, Fightstar). The release takes audiences through a mix of contemporary issues all the way from riots to rebellions, relationships to reflection and has been so far well received by fans and industry officials alike. Their debut video for single 'Spawn Of The Succubus' went live at the end of February '12 to help build the hype for TFFAF. Chasing Dragons hope this EP will allow them to gain some more recognition, continue to build their name and earn them the chance to support some of the well-established talent in the industry.
"Leeds based Chasing Dragons are a fresh faced, hard rock band; who are pushing the boundaries with their debut EP entitled Take Flight For a Firefight. Their mind-blowing mix of Paramore esque vocal lines and fat ass, punchy metal riffs is really something to behold – not only serving the listener up a plate full of hard rock anthems to sink their teeth into, but presenting them with nine songs that are actually about real life scenarios, taking into account the recent riots across the UK and various topics such as love and inner reflection. Chasing Dragons have hit the ground running to say this is their debut EP and with not one dull moment on the album, Take Flight For a Firefight will have you in awe by just how brilliant this Leeds based five piece is.
£5….. That’s all this musical masterpiece costs. Nine tracks, jammed full of pounding guitar riffs, powerful vocal lines and some of the catchiest choruses in female fronted rock….. Screw the likes of Paramore, Halestorm and Flyleaf. Chasing Dragons are the future of this amazing genre, and they are entering the scene with full force! [9/10]"
