There are five artists using this name:
1) Collision, a Dutch Grindcore band with Thrash influences.
2) Collision, a Swedish reggae band.
3) Collision, an American Hardcore band.
4) Collision, a Dutch hardcore/tekno artist.
5) Collision, a "COLLISION" of musicians exchanging their different musical backgrounds and culture
6) Collision, a Pop Punk band
1) Collision is an aggressive grindcore band with metal and hardcore influences. What you get is a violent straight-in-your-face wall of sound that swings. Combined with two singers, to give it something extra, especially live.
The band was founded by singers Björn and Tammi in 2000. After getting the right line-up together, the band started playing blasting live shows, full of energy and aggression.
After many live shows and one demo (“Miserable, squashed, dead”) Collision recorded their first full length album called “Romantic display of love”, which was released in 2003 on Bizarre Leprous Production.
In 2005 Bass player Marcel was replaced by Mangled bass player Boris.
At the end of 2005 the band recorded a new album called “Roadkiller”. The album is released in June 2006 by Bones Brigade Records and contains 14 songs of grinding thrashcore assault!
Collision has done some great gigs with bands like: Pungent Stench, Saxon, Gorerotted, Agathocles, Sanitys Dawn, Inhume, After Forever, Suppository, Mangled, Gojira, Aborted, Sinister and more.Collision also played on festivals like Obscene Extreme (Czech Republic), Fit Of Rage (Czech Republic), Weistock (Holland), Rockweekend (Holland) and more.
2) Collision .A group of childhood friends, Collision perfected their craft for years before releasing their dark, sludgy and heavily Led Zeppelin influenced harmonies onto the general public.
Nik Chinboukas (vocals/guitar), Gustavo J. Vitureira (bass) and Alex Kyriazis (drums) toiled in obscurity in the New York club scene for some thirteen years before one of their demos finally caught the attention of Chaos/Columbia. The band insisted on recording and producing their self-titled debut in their own recording studio. The album was innovative and defied categorization, while the single "Chains" managed to get some limited airplay.
By 1995 the grunge movement was in full swing and Collision compromised their sound to release the disappointing Coarse album. The band broke up but would later reform as Kollizion for a short time. Chinboukas is currently a sought after producer in New York while Kyriazis has done some session work with bands such as The Beatnuts.
3) Collision. During the late 90's/early 2000's Southern California had the Hardcore (punk) band Collision. Playing fast and straight forward they combined a sound somewhere between Minor Threat and Gorilla Biscuits; fitting in nicely among contemporaries In My Eyes & the Nerve Agents.
They released a 7inch on Ambassador records, CD EP on Ambassador, and a final demo in 2001 before breaking up. Members went on to many bands, including Impact/Stand And Fight, Internal Affairs, and One Choice.
In 2007 it was announced the band intended to reunite and play, but as of late 2008 this hasn't happened- among other things, a drummer couldn't be found to play.
4) Collision - Industrial Hardcore producer from NL. Founder of Obs.Cur label.
5) Collision - col*li*sion (k -l zh n)n. 1. The act or process of colliding; a crash or conflict. 2. Physics. A brief dynamic event consisting of the close approach of two or more particles, such as atoms, resulting in an abrupt change of momentum or exchange of energy.
Probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the word COLLISION is a horrible crash or accident. But the band COLLISION's vision is definitely not accidental; it's the COLLISION of musicians exchanging their different musical backgrounds and culture.
Vocalist Sash Kuzma perfected his impressive singing skills by studying opera and jazz and by touring with various bands in Europe. But he grew up listening to good old American rock bands like Skid Row, Aerosmith, and G'n'R! Coming to LA, he collided with keyboardist, Sven Martin. Sven grew up a classically trained pianist in Germany, but influences like Nena, U2, and BT set him on a course just right for COLLISION. Lately, he's been buffing his skills as musical director for Russian "lesbian" act, t.A.T.u., as keyboardist for alternagirl, Liz Phair, and as producer, writer, and remixer for various Rock, Pop ,Dance and Electronica artists around his tight home studio in LA. On tour recently, Sven collided with Bryce Martin, who was playing guitar for opening act, Katy Rose. Bryce is a native Californian with the baddest hairdo on the planet, and he likes it classic: Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and Jeff Beck. Additionally, Bryce toured extensively with Damone before joining COLLISION. Together, these three eclectic players heard the big bashing of drummer Ken Mundy, and knew he was set to collide. Ken's musical past includes drumming for The Gulf Coast Symphony and Atomic Boy.
The result of such a COLLISION is a unique mix of rock, alternative, pop and electronica, with strong melodies and tasteful, unrelenting hooks.
They self-produced their debut EP, which they released along with a VIDEO for their hit song "Touching Me", and they received raves in music magazines and TV & radio airplay.
When you think of COLLISION, think basic Depeche Mode and Duran Duran swirled up with new chemistry like The Killers and Linkin Park. Put it all in the test tube now, and watch it explode!
