CrackTown are a satirical Blues/Folk/Country band from Kingston Upon Hull in England.
Biography
They have two members: The Silver Fox, on harmonica and vocals; and King Rat, who plays the guitar and sings. Their songs are mainly parodies of modern culture and politics, for example, their most famous song, which is invariably last in their set and also the first song they ever wrote, "Charlton Heston", has the chorus;
"I wish that I was Charlton Heston/ The king of every genre from biblical to western/ Life would be a picnic and I wouldn't have a care/ As a gun-toting bible-quoting multi-millionaire".
This is typical of their songs. Other songs include "The Incredible Idi Amin", "Best Of British" "How I Feel Inside" & "Prisoner 783".
Their Live set is renown as being both controversial and hilarious. No subject is safe or sacred as far as the Acid tongue of the Silver Fox is concerned and between songs they engage the audience with a mixture of political satire, social commentary and random unsolicited abuse.
They gig mainly around Hull and have supported artists such as Sidewinder, Kimya Dawson, Jim Bob, Wreckless Eric & Edward Tudor-Pole.
It is rumoured CrackTowns 2nd album which is titled "There Must and shall be Midgets" (or "Sexual Cricket" depending on your source) is to be unleashed on the public sometime in the late summer and will contain some of the songs they play during their Live set such as "Nazi Girl", "Please take care of this band" & "Quintessential County Council Candidate". It will be produced by the producer 'Happy To Be Here'.
