- An IndieRock Experience - “Often, Cult Fiction breaks new ground in some way. It is explicit for the time in which it is published, attracting prurient interest from listeners who like things a little crazy. It may also be controversial: some of the most esteemed works of Cult Fiction have been banned at some point or another” After being on tour and playing dozens of gigs with songs from the album, it was finally time to record «Cult Fiction - Cult Fiction» in 2013. Drummer Espen Granseth (Delvoid, Fay Wildhagen) was involved in developing the songs and the live shows, and Andre Thung (THC, The Meads Of asphodel UK, and Fraction Distraction) joined the trip to Liverpool to record the drums on the album. The album was made at Aurum Production in less than 37 hours - with all our force and hard concisely work. What we brought to Liverpool was a bunch of very well rehearsed songs and an enormous amount of energy. Thanks to the amazing studio engineers Jonathan Nield and Alexander Dalby, we returned with an amazing product. Since 2012, Cult Fiction has delivered energetic live shows at every concert. Our dynamic way of playing makes our songs jam into each other so that both we and the listeners forget all about time and space. In December 2012 we played two gigs under very special circumstances - our singer had a heart attack during both gigs and had a pacemaker inserted the day after. This year we also went to Sweden to record a pre-production of the album: eight optimists in a bandwagon, including a sound engineer, photographer, roadie og and the members of the band with a 2 ton trailer filled with instruments, mixer, monitors, drums and much else that we rigged up for our first proper recording session. That trip may be the wildest one so far. 2011 was the year it all began. Max Mortensen decided to start a legendary band, and that was when he bumped into Oerjan Isaksen and Espen Granseth, and Cult Fiction saw the daylight. Max used the whole year to find the right musicians while he continuous worked on his music in 2011. Cult Fiction was started in January 2012, and their first gig was a jam at the festival «Culture Your Easter» at Caféteateret in Oslo. We immediately sat down to make all the songs for our conceptual album. After three months they were all ready, and we started touring around Norway with our songs. And we reached greater and greater heights - we became tighter and tighter for every day that passed… and the rest is living history.
