Kent UK. Funksters ‘Cut The Funk’ keep flying the flag with their brand of jazz funk. Collectively they’ve worked with some of the biggest names in past and present in the music industry. Artists include Chaka Khan, Ernest Ranglin, Robben Ford, Hamish Stuart, Ben E. King, Robben Ford, Imelda May, Sam & The Womp, The Emotions and the Impressions and the list rolls on.
Cut The Funk, now in their third year, has been acclaimed as today’s cutting edge in British jazz funk and is highly recommended as a ‘must see’ band for 2013.
Highlighted concerts include Ronnie Scotts, the main stage at Lounge on the Farm Festival, Pizza Express and Charlie Wrights. The band also continue their bi-monthly residency at The Old House at Home, a focal point for new blood musicians in Maidstone(Kent). U.K.’s session industry have recognised their talents and guested with the band such as Noel McCalla (Vocals), Richard Bailey (Drums), Winston Delandro (Guitar), Simon Foster (Vocals) Sam Kelly (Drums) and Michael Bailey (Bass). With a growing reputation on Kent’s music scene, the band have rapidly grown reaching the interest of Jazz FM who have described them as “…absolutely incredible”.
September 2012 saw the launch of their debut album “Weekend Coda” at Pizza Express (Maidstone) to a sell out crowd. The album has since received tremendous critical acclaim by UK and international radio stations. Encouraged by the overwhelming response from their 1st album, Cut The Funk continue to hit the road and are currently writing more material for their next serving of pumping funk.
