Dan Beaulaurier carries his Gibson J200 wherever he goes and writes songs about sun and surf, colors, love and long-forgotten cowboys. He currently lives in London and supports himself with regular gigs and busking. Dan grew up just south of San Francisco in a town nestled in California's coastal foothills. He made his first recording at the age of five and wrote his first song when he was eight. He's been writing songs, singing and playing guitar ever since he started a band in the early nineties. Over the years, Dan has written hundreds of songs and recorded eight CDs. His music straddles several genres, including rock, surf-pop and western. Dan utilizes everything from autoharps, yucums, guitars and kazoos to create original music on his 8-track recorder that is soulful and downright rocking. Some of his primary influences are Neil Young, Nada Surf, Daniel Lanois, Willie Nelson and Hank Williams. His self-produced releases include Honky-Tonk Pajamas, vintage cowboy-ish tunes with a Route 66 twist; Four Months in 2000, a compilation of songs he wrote in Scotland; and Summer and Beaches and Stuff, a collection of bouncy beach beats and surfabilly riffs with a sprinkling of spooky melodies. In Edinburgh, Scotland, Dan formed a band called Land. Land included four strong vocalists who created lush, layered harmonies that drew comparisons to Beta Band and Buffalo Springfield. Land had weekly gigs at three Edinburgh night spots (Black Bull Tavern, O'Neill's and Q-Bar), performed at the Fringe Festival and received national exposure on Scottish radio stations before it disbanded. Dan currently performs solo or with guitarist/singer/songwriter Grace Solero at several venues in London including 12 Bar Club, Dublin Castle and The Enterprise. Or, you might catch him busking at St. Martin's Court or the Leicester Square tube station on some drizzly London afternoon
