Singer-songwriter who combines raw emotion with socio-politics, humour and charisma, Darren has starred alongside a wide range of well-known contemporaries, actively involved in playing, recording and promoting original music since 1986. He has 3 self-published CD’s and one live concert DVD to his name. These are ‘Global’ (CD & DVD); ‘Brilliant Words’; and ‘Passion & Conflict’. Darren co-hosted ‘Stand And Deliver’ in the mid 1980’s, a catalyst to the rise of alternative cabaret and comedy, and then inspired and lead the music scene at The Witchwood, one of Greater Manchester’s most prolific live music venues, until the end of the 90’s. At the outset of the Manchester acoustic scene of the early 2000’s, he fronted regular ‘Acoustica’ events around Greater Manchester, and produced the first acoustic songwriter compilation cd of that era ‘Words & Pictures’ for Raw Fish Records. In 2008 he launched a new regular song and poetry event, ‘3 Chords & The Truth’, in Cheshire, and became an artistic director for The Hive (Social Enterprise Project). Darren continues to work with special needs children and adults, providing music therapy and tuition, also running occasional music and songwriter workshops.
