What is davesnewbike? davesnewbike is a new band of old blokes playing pop music for grown ups. Unburdened by youth, riches or fame, davesnewbike are free to offer an alternative mid-life experience to the heritage acts you know, love and have become bored by. Kick-starting the adventure is singer-songwriter Tom Houston. Tom has worked with the likes of Chris Difford and Chas Jankel and offers material which is trenchant and cliché-free yet full of insight, humour and tenderness. Steel, and chrome is added by guitarist Kris Jozajtis, survivor of post-punk iconoclasts the Folk Devils. While folk-rock legends Caedmon furnish propulsive precision in the shape of Sam Wilson on bass and the drumming of Simon Jacquet. So, motor, push, or exercise? As you’d expect from a bunch of baby boomers, reference points are many; from the obvious Beatles, Dylan and Hendrix, through punk, Americana and Scots traditional music, to the more contemporary stylings of Feist, Gogol Bordello, Lucinda Williams and Vampire Weekend.
