As the U.K. acoustic scene begins to flourish with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Laura Marling making its mark, it seems the perfect time for the 17-year-old David McCaffrey to take to the floor. Having previously played alongside Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Misty Miller, C.W. Stoneking and David Ford, it seems McCaffrey has already experienced sharing the stage with the U.K.'s biggest up-and-coming artists, so early on in his musical career. A self-taught guitarist, he began creating new sounds at the age of 14, before quickly entering into the York music scene. After recent success through Radio Plays from BBC Radio York, as well as performing an acoustic session for University Radio York it seemed only right that the rest of the Britain could begin listening to the singer-songwriter's stuff. Communion Records (of Mumford & Sons and Cherbourg) were quick to get David down to play in Notting Hill, London as part of the 'Communion Club Night.'"It was a great experience meeting new people in music as well as some of the 'big-dogs' in music. I want to keep playing with new people, as well as playing to new people" With influences from John Martyn, José Gonzalez and Bob Dylan, he creates naturally expressive melodic lines, complimented by a crisp, pulsing guitar accompaniment as well as using guitar tapping to get every last sound possible from the guitar. "I began watching other people play differently, and it has given me a way in which i can break up my set for each gig." David plans on releasing a debut EP entitled 'Stars' in 2012.
