2. DDR is an indie post-punk band from Istanbul, Turkey . Inspired by the out of date Deutsche Demokratische Republik (German Democratic Republic), Cihan Cinemre and Can Batukan founded the band in 2002. On the same year, the band released its first demo Post-technik. In 2004 Cem Şimşek and Üner Altay joined the band and their self-titled second demo DDR was released. Soon after, DDR was reproduced by the Slusaj Najglasnije! record company in Croatia. Cem Şimşek left the group for military service causing Üner Altay to take the guitar and the accession of Murat Babalık. Bora Şimşek joined the group after the departure of Üner Altay. Describing their music as dark, cyclic, often atonal and beyond common forms of songwriting, DDR have completed a third demo produced by Barkın Engin and Selçuk Artut of the Replikas fame. They performed at Radar Live 2007 and their song Meinhof appeared in the compilation "Vol.1 - Alternative-Rock from Turkey" published by Voltaj (Doublemoon) Records in October, 2007. DDR is getting ready to release their first album in fall 2009.

3. DDR is the alias of Dave Lalouche, London acid techno pioneer. A central player on the UK free party sound system scene, DDR got involved with acid luminaries the Liberator DJ's and Choci in the early 1990's and played a key role, through both production and engineering, in the development of underground acid labels like Stay Up Forever, Choci's Chewns, and Smitten. He's now married and living in the United States.
4. Disko Democratic Republic (as in Disko Bay in West Greenland) is a greenlandic rock band, known as DDR. They've published two albums so far, their second one, Kaar! (2004) being much more professional and a massive hit in their native Greenland. The lyrics are all in Greenlandic, but conveniently english translations are come with the CD. Subjects range from arctic depression to rioting dancefloors at concerts.
