Bored with the minimalist Indie rock of recent years, this Sheffield quartet fuse elements of rock, trip-hop and folk into deceptively gentle, hypnotic landscapes out of which the dual vocal harmonies of singers Nel and Lou sting forth with intensely personal lyrics and a flair for melody. This is psychedelia for the broken hearted. Formed in 2005, Dyonisis' sound is a blend of organic and digital, labeled as ‘Ethereal Rock’, incorporating the classically rich vocals of Louisa providing the perfect counter to the vulnerability and eccentricity of lead singer Nel. Her husband, Marcus creates rolling bass lines that underpin the shimmering guitars and programmed beats of Tom. The result is as luxurious as it is lacerating. The band present their second album ‘Intoxicated’, the follow up to their acclaimed self titled debut of 2007. More information on the band is available at www.dyonisis.info
