Born Errol Brown, in the picturesque parish of Portland Jamaica, the only son in a family of three children. He started singing in his early teens on a church choir. Errol realised that he had extraordinary musical talents when he astounded everyone by mastering the bass, drums, guitar and piano without any formal tuition. From this early age Errol dreamed of becoming a reggae music ambassador. A dream that became a reality…
…In the early part of his music career, he started singing on local sound-systems and performing at talent concerts. He later joined the Survivors band as the lead singer and began developing a dedicated and passionate fan base that grew with every one of his performances. The name “Easy B” was then given to him by fellow band members, because of his easy-going personality. (The spelling was changed in 2003 to “Easi B” to distinguish him from other artists with similar names).
He later migrated to Kingston in search of greener pastures, as this was where it was all happening in the music business and was spotted by the Pacesetters band. His debut single, ‘Lonely is the Night’ was released in the mid 90s on the Pacesetters label, followed shortly by a cover of the then popular song ‘Don’t Wanna Lose You’.
Shortly after, Easi B began travelling to and from England performing and promoting his music. The talented singer was in great demand by some of England’s most prominent producers. His first single released in England, was ‘I’ve Been a Fool’ on Juggling label under the name Easi Brown. A 4 track EP ‘Return to Class’ featuring cross-over hip hop/reggae track, ‘Boyz in the Hood’, was released on YPG label. He later released singles, ‘Blessed be the Rock’ and ‘Moses’. He also had two tracks, (Give me a Heart & Just Like a River), featured on Jet Star’s compilation ‘Riverbash’.
His debut album ‘Prophecy’ was released in 1998 on Jetstar’s Charm label and was published by Sony, with hit tracks ‘Listen to Mama’ and ‘Oh Jahovah’. Tracks like ‘Nah Give Up’ and ‘I’m Rolling’ indicated his determination to get his messages across and to succeed in the music business.
His follow up album ‘Rock On’, which was released on Charm label in 1999 established Easi B as one of the favourite reggae artists in the UK. There were no doubts that a Star has risen.
Easi B ‘rolled’ on to achieving his ultimate accolade in reggae music, when his single ‘Blackman’s History’ was released in March 2002 (Potential label). ‘Blackman’s History’ became a hit in the UK. It held the No 1 position for six weeks on the Choice FM top 20 reggae chart and reached No 3 on the Echoes reggae chart.
His third album ‘Guns & Roses’ released in 2006 on the Potential label emphasised his profound song writing skills and captured his magnificent vocal blend featured on all his past recordings.
This God inspired artist has grown from strength to strength over the years and has established himself into the reggae mainstream. Today, Easi B has his own music production company, Yumojah Records, which uses the slogan ‘Making a Difference in Music’ and continues to impact positively on people around the world through his music.
