Sometime in 2004 Vince Paixao (bass) and Cyrus Fisher (drums) formed a two-piece band called El Cid. In the beginning it was just drums and bass, but over the years the band had Kendall Furrow and Daniel Lloyd join on keyboards (at points together and at others separate). At their largest they were a five-piece with two drummers (the other being Andrew Davis), two keyboardists, and a bassist. El Cid eventually broke up in 2007 and later reformed as Katamari Deathroll in 2008.
