There are at least two bands named Elessar: 1) Elessar from Paris, France. 2) Elessar from Cleveland, Ohio, USA. 1) Elessar consists of Victoire Oberkampf (lead vocals), Romain Olivieri (piano, backing vocals), Nicolas Molac (acoustic guitar, backing vocals), Steven Barret (bass), Edward Vizard (drums), Ægine Seigneurin and Elise De-Bendelac (violins), Elsa Seger (viola), Céline Lepicard (cello), Clément Charpentier-Leroy (French horn), Gautier Demollière (trombone) and Pierre Lesmarie (bass saxhorn). The band plays orchestral indie music, a genre merging pop and folk music with classical music elements to create a coloured and harmonious sound. Mainly derived of the bands Sigur Rós, Arcade Fire and Hjaltalín, it is the passion for the authentic sound of acoustic instruments that greatly influenced the compositional style and thus, the personality of the band. Inspired by artists Ludovico Einaudi and Yann Tiersen on top of previous bands, composer Romain Olivieri gathered passionate and dedicated musicians to liven his musical world. First thinking about making instrumental music only, he gradually incorporated original songs after meeting with lead singer Marion Briatte and slowly constituted his line up, looking for motivated members willing to join his unusual project. After a couple of years building up their repertoire, by the way replacing lead singer with Victoire Oberkampf, Elessar is currently rehearsing for live shows and recording their upcoming indie album Sun We Rise, planning to release it in spring 2012. 2) Genre(s): Power Metal Lyrical theme(s): Epic themes Origin: United States of America (Cleveland, Ohio) Formed in 1983 Last label Iron Works Status: Split-up Last known line-up: Ed Brucato - Vocals Andy Mrazek - Guitars Steve Butler - Bass Frank Nerone - Drums, Percussion Harry Mackey - Keyboards Discography Defy the KingEP, 1984 Fan site RealAudio files of ''Defy The King'' at vibrationsofdoom.com http://www.vibrationsofdoom.com/test/Elessar.html
