The band was formed in late 2002 when brothers Jody and Rick Martin met up with Brett Stepto. Realising they all shared the same musical loves and ambitions the band, completed by Greg Godding, set about writing and recording songs that include heartfelt, inspired vocals underpinned by a modern rock sound tinged with elements of pop, jazz and blues. In early 2004 Even Nine released their self titled EP, receiving rave reviews. The EP has sold in excess of a thousand copies. The band spent the remainder of 2004 playing gigs throughout Cornwall, Devon, Wales and London. 2004 also saw the band appear on the Animal Beach Ball Tour and perform shows with the likes of ‘Fun Lovin’ Criminals’ and ‘Reef’. Their second EP’ feed’ was released in August 2005, reinforced with yet more positive reviews and even greater sales. A combination of radio support and constant playing, including shows with the likes of ‘Rooster’ and ‘Lucie Silvas’ and an open air performance in London’s Covent Garden saw the band’s profile and fan base grow rapidly. 2006 saw the band tipped by the music industry trade magazine Music Week as one of the ‘hottest unsigned bands’. The year was spent playing extensively around the UK. A slot on the bill at the prestigious Rock Meets Blues festival alongside ‘Dr. John’ and ‘The Blind Boys of Alabama’ in front of 10,000 people was a highlight of the summer and confirmed that Even Nine’s live performance can capture people on both large settings and more intimate club gigs. Another support slot with ‘Rooster’, in October, helped propel Even Nine’s growing fan base further still. In November 2006 Even Nine won a text competition to support Thunder on two dates of their UK tour. The shows were a great success and achievement for the band and all who voted for them. Winter 2006/07 has been spent working on some new material, set to be debuted at some of the forthcoming gigs. Spring 2007 sees Even Nine heading out on their second UK tour, and then aiming to go back into the studio to work on a new release for the summer….
