Figurehead may refer to: 1) An alternative rock band from Staten Island, New York 2) A Surfy/Punky/Indie-y band from Southington, Connecticut. (Dead) (Tumblr | Facebook | Bandcamp) 3) A four piece band from Lorain, Ohio. 1) The project FigureHead began when Chris Taranto (Guitars, Vocals) recorded a demo tape in his basement in 2008. In April-May of 2009, Chris put together a lineup that would play some of those songs and write new material. During the summer of '09, FigureHead played two shows with John DeMaio on bass and Alex DiVito on drums. In September, John and Alex left due to personal reasons. Shortly after, Fred Melendez joined as the band's new drummer and Joe Scarsella playing bass. This lineup made its debut February 5th @ the Cup. Work on their debut EP/demo, 'Positively Negative' (produced by Brian Buchanan), began early in March 2010 and was finished a month later on April 2nd. It was released for free download on April 6th. After a few months of shows and working on new material, FigureHead's 2nd EP ('Freerunner EP') was released on June 23rd, which was a recording of a practice. In August 2010, the band split ways with Fred Melendez and added Rise With the Fallen's drummer Mike Sanbeg. His first show was August 15th @ Edgewater Hall. On September 1st, 2010, the band released the first single to their unnamed, unreleased debut LP: "Restart". 2) The CT FigureHead has been playing shows around the New England area with several bands. They formed in 2009, went through a line-up change, recorded a demo and an EP, and played their last show in November 2011. Both of the albums are available on their Bandcamp.
