Follow You Home was formed on a cold and frosty night in December 2010 in Derby, England by school friends Rich Davis (bass) and Nick Ayre (guitar/vocals). Keen to make their dreams of performing melodic, punk-tinged music that tells it how it really is into a reality, the duo recruited Rich’s brother Mikey (guitar) and mutual friend Tom Bradshaw (drums) and quickly started the hunt for a singer who would complete the final piece of their puzzle.
Pretty soon after those initial rehearsals, they met pink-haired uber-vixen Kayley Busby and the four knew they have found the perfect person to front Follow You Home. “From the second we heard the tone of Kayley’s voice we knew she was the one,” recalls Rich. “She’s was a really strong vocalist with balls and attitude and she summed up what we were trying to create down to a tee.”
Musically speaking Follow You Home draw inspiration from guitar-based bands (as you might expect from a bunch who were born just a stone’s throw from the spiritual home of rock that is Castle Donington) and while they all have a passion for various genres, the likes of Alexisonfire, Brand New, Alkaline Trio and Bayside in particular spur them on to make a noise all of their very own.
Opting to write about real life, the quintet craft refreshingly honest songs that have earned them an ever-growing army of supporters who find solace in their sonic soothsaying. “Sometimes the world is an ugly, f*cked up place and that needs to be reflected on,” says Rich. “It’s not all doom and gloom though as a lot of our songs are actually pretty hopeful.”
Firm believers in paying their dues, Follow You Home have taken their musical manifesto to the streets of the UK and, like all the great bands before them, they’ve got in a van and toured the pub and club circuit numerous times, making new mates, attracting fans in every town and, as Kayley puts it, “having a great time travelling and performing with your best friends.”
At the moment, the band (who have already received extensive video play for their debut single ‘Once Upon A Lie’ on Lava TV and steam-rolled their way through to the top five of Kerrang! Magazine’s recent Slam Dunk competition) are hard at work on a new four track EP, which is scheduled to be released in November, and are in the process of putting together another tour that is sure to mark them out as one of the UK’s most talented new acts.
