Guns of Navarone are a ska punk band from Coventry and Bedowrth, UK heavily influenced by bands such as Green Day, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, The Ramones, The Specials and Dropkick Murphys. Gaz named the band after a Specials song. G.O.N. have been playing old school ska punk since September 2008 when the band was formed by lead singer / guitarist Gaz. In July 2009 the band members walked out on Gaz and left him to carry on the band which led him to finding Xander a very talented bassist from Bedworth who immediately added a more raw punk look and sound to the band. In August they recruited Tylar on drums and got their first gig booked for the 29th of October at Rosie Malone's Irish Bar in Coventry. In September Tylar left the band to concentrate on his education soon after Max, a grade 8 drummer from Bedworth joined the band on drums and immediately on his first practice Gaz and Xander knew he was made for the band. In October the lads recorded their first demo album entitled Sorry Man. The album name came about after the lads listened back to the album and heard at the end of "Let The Riot Begin" Xander saying sorry man and they thought it was a great name for the album. The lads then went on to record 2 more demo albums entitled Garbage Day (named after the famous quote from 80's horror movie, Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2) and We're Mature...and So Was Your Mum Last Night (a collection of covers, random jams, joke songs and outakes recorded during the recording of Garbage Day and the name is a nod to all those who have called us immature), they have played Rosie Malone's Irish Bar in Coventry twice and in February 2010 they played the legendary Kasbah in Coventry with the awesome King Hermit. To this date the lads have some new stuff penned down (including Scumbag, I Don't Care and Double-Crosser) for their next demo album titled G.O.N. and are hoping to get it recorded sometime soon. On March 13th 2010 the lads practiced with 2 new band mebers..Kieran on trombone and backing vocals and Doug on cornet and backing vocals and they were really proud by the new sound that these guys added to the band.
