London-based alternative guitar band Hatcham Social are brothers Toby Kidd and Finn Kidd, respectively on vocals and drums, and David Claxton on guitar.
After a string of unfeasibly catchy sold out seven inches on uber-cool labels like Loog and WAKS, the band released their debut album ‘You Dig the Tunnel, I’ll Hide the Soil’ in 2009 on independent legends Fierce Panda in Europe and on new label TBD, also home to Radiohead, in the US.
Produced by Tim Burgess, ‘You Dig The Tunnel...’ was critically acclaimed and received 10/10 in Vice Magazine, 8/10 in NME and Album Of The Month in Artrocker. It was included in many top 20 albums of the year lists, and the single Crocodile was the Single Of The Year 2009 in Artrocker Magazine.
The second album, ‘About Girls’, released in 2012 received an equally good reception: Loud And Quiet “Full of nagging hits”; NME “A stunner”; Steve Lamacq (6 Music/Radio 2) “...pure indie pop brilliance”; BBC America “one of the top 5 UK bands to see at SXSW”; The Quietus “loving Hatcham Social’s new direction”.
Produced by Jim Anderson (Cold Specks, Blood Red Shoes) (with one track by Laurie Latham-Squeeze, Echo And The Bunnymen), ‘About Girls’ shows a poppier, more playful side of the band. Catch Hatcham off guard and they might even say it’s their “party record”.
And now, we are here: Hatcham Social have a new album set for release in early February 2014. ‘Cutting Up The Present Leaks Out The Future’, out on Tim Burgess’ Ogenisis Records,is the bands most personal: recorded and produced by the band themselves. Dark and experimental, the new album shows a raw and brooding band expanding on their songwriting craft. Recorded in live takes onto tape this album represents a pinnacle in capturing the mood, atmosphere and depth of Hatcham Social.
