Hi -Fi Spitfires are a 3 piece punk rock band, formed in mid 2008 by Steve Straughan (ex Holy Racket/Red London) on guitar and lead vocals. With bass player Dean Liddle and drummer Nelly (The Lurkers/ex Fiend and Hang-Ups) quickly recruited and 11 hours practice later the band had recorded their first E.P. "The 11th Hour".. With mixed influences ranging from early punk bands such as The Sex Pistols, Clash, Slaughter and the Dogs and The Boys to more recent bands such as U.S. Bombs, Bombshell Rocks, District and Rancid, the bands first album "ENGLAND SCREAMING" is out now! A split release with Argentinian band Desahogo will be out early 2012, featuring 4 new non-album songs. In Oct 2010) they played their first European shows, supporting 999 and Mad Caddies and a UK tour with T.V. Smith's Adverts (March 2011). A short Euro tor taking in 5 countries followed in Sept 2011. Early 2012 saw Dean leave the band to be replaced by Neil Newton of the Angelic Upstarts. Hi-Fi Spitfires third trip into Europe begins on 13th April in Den Haag.
