You wanna know how bands should sound, look no further than Leeds / Norwich based Holy State. Musically enlightened beyond their years, the band take influence from post-hardcore legends Girls Against Boys, alt-rock gods Jesus Lizard, and indie institution The Fall at their darkest and most rhythmically driven, combined with a hint of Spector’s ‘Wall of Sound’ and a nod to Man or Astroman?’s sci-fi surf oddness. Holy State have previously released split singles, through the magnificent Holy Roar label, with the like of Pulled Apart by Horses and Brontide, and were featured on Huw Stephen’s ‘Music Sounds Better With Huw –Volume 1’, through Witchita, with a selection of the Radio 1 tastemaker’s other ‘top tips’ . DTTR first worked with Holy State last year releasing the brutal Jagged Lines on the 2nd of the 4x12” vinyl compilations. The band also opened up the now legendary DTTR Stage (and therefore the whole weekend’s festivities) at Leeds Festival to 7000 hungry music fans, alongside Blood Red Shoes, Wild Beasts, Bear Hands and Airship.
