Hooson formed around the impressive talents of Jenna Hooson on vocals, Richard Kershaw on guitar, Jono Moorhouse on bass and Nick Ezard on drums. Together they play a powerful blend of steaming blues, rock and soul that is hard to beat. May 2012 saw the release of Hooson’s début studio album, Sugar Rush which earned them much praise for their songwriting and performance. Recorded in only four days the album features seven original numbers and three incredible cover versions and is a must buy for any fan of the Blues Rock genre. Hooson have quickly become established as one of the bands to watch on the UK blues scene, earning high praise for their powerful performances. It is clear that the band has a unique chemistry on stage that is compelling to watch. Jenna has been nominated in the category of Best Female Vocals in the 2012 British Blues Awards and has her own unique vocal identity which has both power and passion in equal measure. Rich’s incendiary playing style is the perfect accompaniment to Jenna’s vocals and with Nick and Jono providing a solid, funky, tight and powerful foundation, the band play a mixture of rocked up blues and soul that is simply irresistible, breathing new life and vibrancy into the genre.
