Ian Matthew Hale was born in the South East England in 1982. Son to artistic parents he lived with his mother and sister as they moved throughout the British countryside. Both he and his sister Alice attended various primary schools along the way, each expressing a strong interest in performing arts, taking to the stage whenever possible in amateur productions. After a short while it became very clear that Ian had an uncompromising passion for music. Keith Hale (Ian’s uncle), a prominent figure in his upbringing, was a touring musician, providing Ian with a healthy serving of his recordings with Ginger Baker, Hawkwind, and Toyah, thus becoming a big influence and fuel to his creative drive. Alice, now a Brit School graduate and yet another troubadour of the Hale family has recorded at previous releases at Peter Gabriel’s Real World studios, and continues to perform around the Countrty. Ian now lives in London entertaining audiences large and small with his music Performing everywhere from intimate personal shows like ‘The David Goo Variety Show’ in Kings Cross to sharing the main stage at The Fire Festival in Bournemouth with likes of ‘Vincent Vincent’ and ‘The Villians’ he pushes his innovative style to audiences far and wide. Ian has also entertained crowds overseas at the EMP in Seattle, and at the Gabriola Folk Festival in British Columbia. In an interview when asked about his experience as a touring musician Ian commented ‘I would like to soon be in a position to do this all year round, I love the people that I meet and sharing my music with them. My intentions are true and I will do just that’. To this day Ian continues to spend much of his time digging through the back-catalogues of favourite record labels, never tiring in his search for something new, occasionally reworking the songs of Captain Beefheart, The Magnetic Fields and Todd Rundgren to name a few. 2007 saw the release of the 'Ian M. Hale E.P', a project that was entirely self-funded and over the last year he has played with and as part of The BeatRoot-RenDez-Vous. Plans for his debut album are now underway. It is set to be released in 2009
