iN TRANSiT is a blues/rock band from Washingtonville, New York. Though they have primarily been a cover band in the past, the band has written a handful of original songs and is beginning to move in a more orignial direction hoping to write and record their debut album within the next year or so. The band formed in 2002 when two guitar players and a drummer got together during their sophomore year at Washingtonville High School to play rock music outside of school. After practicing a few times and playing a few songs at a school function, the band – still nameless – added a bass player and a keyboard player. In October of 2003 the band added a third guitar player and successfully played their first official gig at a local party. Soon after the band began attending the weekly open mic at Bodles Opera House in Chester, NY. At their first open mic appearance on February 12, 2004, the band performed for the first time under the name "iN TRANSiT," which was taken from a humorous story from their history class. iN TRANSiT continued to practice and play gigs at parties and other functions throughout the course of 2004 until they headlined their first show at Bodles Opera House. Drawing a crowd of near 100, the band played a set packed with classic rock and blues hits. Shortly after this show, one of the original guitarists departed the band, leaving it with its current lineup. This lineup finished 2004 by writing their first song and recording a demo consisting of three covers and their original, which was titled "Streets of Sorrow." The band performed a number of times in 2005 prior to leaving for college. In August of that year, the band was honored to open for the Pete Best Band at Bodles Opera House, on a stage that has also hosted artists such as Ritchie Havens and the Marshall Tucker Band. iN TRANSiT returned from college in December to again perform at Bodles Opera House, and in the spirit of the holiday season, Santa Claus showed up to play bass for the second set. The band reconvened in the summer of 2006 performing again at Bodles, at the Tuscan Cafe in Warwick, NY, and at a memorial concert for Washingtonville musician Jonathan George, held at Mays Field. Though college keeps them separated, the members of iN TRANSiT will continue to perform and write songs whenever they can. Stay tuned for shows and happenings and hopefully some fresh new recordings in 2007!!!!
