Incisions was formed initially under the name Vagrants in early 2012 in Albany, New York, by Brandon McNeary and Nicholas Rossi. The bands upstart was slow but took off running, as soon as guitarist Brian Cooke (formerly of Realms), and vocalist Jesse Addington (ex-Caught Red Handed) joined the duo. A four piece set on writing a studio album only, was rounded off when veteran bassist Dave Greene (also the bassist of Dawn Of The Hero) was added to the roster. With eyes set to kill (no pun intended), the ambitious 5-piece headed to Lions Den Recording Studio to record a 5-song EP with Brandon John of Restless Streets. They cranked out tracks every two days, and released them song by song, to act as a demonstration of what they aimed to do. They decided as a group after this, they would play shows and digress from being a studio-only band. They picked their shows tactfully, and played to the best of their abilities. They released their mixed and mastered EP entitled "Signal" on November 13th, 2013. The first EP was well received by the general public and the song "Neurons" was featured in a Deathcore Specialists sampler not even 8 hours after the EP's release. The 5-Piece dissolved to a 3-piece in November 2013 for a slight hiatus after the departure of Nick and Brandon. But the pace picked up greatly when ex-drummer of the local metalcore ancients, Dressed In Red, Shane Dir joined their fold. Their name change to Incisions was mutually decided upon, which expressed a facet of the darker side of humanity. The 4-piece is currently working on their first full length album, Desolation. From the piercing high vocals and low groove of "Genuflections", to the high contrast instrumental track "Obscura", to the groovy, yet heartfelt and melodic "Ascension", Incisions has created a sound unique yet familiar to many successful touring acts. Drawing influence from After The Burial, The Contortionist, Volumes and Meshuggah, Incisions grabs music by its horns, and contorts it to their will. The 5-piece entourage feels that the best way to reach people and interact is through music, thoughtful and creative.
