When he was aged 12 he started to play the piano and by the time he was 14 he wrote his own songs; he enjoyed listening to groups like The Charlatans, Oasis and Jeff Buckley. Walsh was so impressed by the music of Tim Buckley, that he decided to name his own band after the title of Buckley's 1970 album Starsailor. He met fellow band members when he studied music at the Wigan and Leigh College in Wigan. He is a supporter of Liverpool F.C. and used to play concerts for the other supporters and leave comments about the development of the team in his Myspace and twitter. Walsh has the same birthday as Muse lead singer Matthew Bellamy but is two years younger. In 2009, he started recording his first solo album, working with American songwriter and singer Suzanne Vega and making his first film collaboration with Powder. Recently, Walsh has worked together with belgian band Andes on the song "één dag meer" (one more day) and Sheryl Crow asked him to support her on upcoming UK tour...
