Josie Lloyd is a recent graduate and now emerging as a versatile and intuitive composer/songwriter who writes "stunningly impressive" classical music as well as "intelligent pop with completely unusual instrumentation". With a first class degree in Music and Sound Recording (Tonmeister), she won during her university years the MCPS Joyce Dixey Composition Competition in 2007 and 2009 (a double win has never been achieved before - and she only entered it twice!) As well as traditional classical ensembles, she writes for and plays a multitude of instruments including the kora (African harp), electric 5 string violin, guitar, music box, synth, tap shoes, harpsichord, whashboard, boomwhackers ... etc!! Along with fun and interesting performances of her contemporary music, she manages to maintain an entirely accessible sound. She was originally a classically trained musician with post grade 8 diplomas in violin and mezzo soprano singing, but now also performs her contemporary songs at gigs regularly. Also an award winning sound engineer (AMS-Neve Prize for the best final year portfolio of creative recordings), she records the majority of her own works and enjoys being involved in the recording and production of other artists' works. www.myspace.com/josielloyd will link you to all of her projects.
