Julien Chang is an 18 year-old singer, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore, Maryland. His music draws on jazz, indie-pop, classical, psychedelic rock, funk, and electronic music. Through years of practice and performance, the musical autodidact has become proficient in the techniques of piano, synthesizer, electric guitar, acoustic and classical guitar, electric bass, drum set, jazz and classical trombone, ukulele, congas, and vocals, all of which blend seamlessly in his work. Chang studied music at the Baltimore School for the Arts, the alma mater of Tupac Shakur, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Christian Siriano. In May of 2017, he was invited to perform for the Department of Education’s annual national Jazz Informance alongside jazz legend, Terell Stafford. In the summer of 2017 he built a 10` X 10` recording studio in his basement and began work on his debut album, “Jules.” Everything heard on the album was written, composed, performed, recorded, and produced by Julien Chang in the basement of his Baltimore home.
