Londoner Jurassik is a stalwart of the breakbeat scene who has been running club night Supatronix since the early naughties. His 303-fuelled new single How to Pick Up Chicks (VIP remix) has picked up support from scene kingpins such as Far Too Loud, Rennie Pilgrem and BSD, so Knowledge got in touch to find out what compelled him to drop heavy acid, ruff breakbeats and samples of self-help "pick-up" tapes on the same tune ... What's the essence of the Jurassik sound? "Raw breakbeat pressure, plenty of sub and hopefully an "outside the box" approach. I'm trying to write breakbeat that dips outside the usual rules of the genre, yet still captures that energy that the bestbreaks tunes have. I'm heavily influenced by the old skool rave sound which is blowing up again at the moment."
