Itʼs been an impressive rise to the top for Australian singer, songwriter and vocalist Kate Elsworth, through her chart-topping and breaking single ‘Aliveʼ (Phazing Records, 2011) which was co-produced by house- music icons Dirty South and Thomas Gold. Elsworth, who’s best known for her lyrical virtuoso and soulful vocals has been in high demand on the decks this year, featuring DJ performances at the world’s best loved clubs including Amnesia Ibiza and Pacha NY. The early years of Elsworthʼs career saw her love-affair with music blossom, singing in jazz bands and writing for international artists, Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls and French Idol winner, Christophe Willem. In 2007 while immersed in the insatiable atmosphere of Ibiza for the first time, Elsworth developed an intuitive ear for house music. “It was an entirely new experience for me. It was magical”, says Elsworth. Cue to 2011 and since the release of her critically acclaimed track ʻAliveʼ it’s been life in the fast lane for Kate Elsworth. Touring cross Atlantic she’s been performing as far afield as Panama City with Enrique Iglesias and as close to the action as it gets main room at Amnesia Ibiza. With a packed schedule of international gigs and studio time, Elsworthʼs time is divided between Europe, Australia and the U.S. Kate Elsworth resides in New York every October working with her producer and business partner, Exacta. Spending each New York Fall in the studio is central to Elsworth’s time-out from the demanding rigors of her European touring. “I’m so inspired by New York. It’s such a unique fusion of art, fashion and music cultures; each entwined with one another producing an authentic spirit for musicians like myself. I’m forever trying to spend more time there.” In 2012 the annual Miami Winter Music Conference will be the platform for Kate Elsworth’s exciting new catalogue of work including collaborations with some of the dance music industry’s leading producers.
