Already tipped as one of the most exciting acts within the UK Roots Reggae scene, the Kayanites have already had a great wealth of achievement and have received a huge amount of recognition and critical acclaim throughout their previously successful “Celtic Rasta” guise. Now after a slight reshuffle in the bands line up, which welcomes the addition of some amazingly talented new musicians and armed with a great arsenal of amazing, self penned music, the newly formed Kayanites look set to further build on their incredible foundation and further cement their place as one of the most talented and versatile Roots Reggae bands to come out of the UK. The Kayanites centre around the incredibly talented, unique, powerful vocals and harmonies of Carribean Carriacou/Scotland descended identical twin brothers Eddie & Sean, alongside brother Ion & the incredibly tight musicianship of the Kayanite band to deliver both visually and musically on every level. The bands undeniable talents have led to performances at some of the UK’s most well known festivals with slots at notable events such as Boomtown, Beatherder, Shambala and Sunrise supporting some of the biggest and most recognized artists of all time. Kayanites have directly supported notables that include Freddie McGregor, Dawn Penn & Zion Train and the band have also played alongside the mighty King Earthquake Soundsystem in Paris to crowds of 1000+ people On top of the many festival appearances the bands own gigs themselves have taken them the entire length of the UK with gigs in most major cities & towns to great reception, taking in London, Bristol, Leicester, Harlow, Southampton and Scotland along the way. The future certainly looks bright for the five piece and on the back of their hugely popular release last year with Ras Muffett on the popular “Roots Injection” label, the guys have just unleashed a new teaser EP and are back in the studio crafting some amazing new music, poised to take them further in 2014.
With plenty of support from their industry peers including backing from the mighty “Sir Ram Jam David Rodigan” himself and with single Youtube videos hitting nearly 30 thousand views its clear that Kayanites are clearly on the right path and ones to watch.
