Kid Flicks is the plunderphonic pop project of Lefkada-born / London-based producer, songwriter and artist Nickos Dervisis, where he is exploring his obsessions with dense sample heavy productions, pop harmonies, world music and eccentric sound designs. Since 2011 Dervisis had released two albums on Inner Ear Records and an EP on Bad Panda Records, recorded on his macbook while traveling around Greece and Europe. While initially performing alone, in 2013 he formed an elastic ensemble (1-4 performers) to enhance his live performances, focusing on the relationship between electronics and live drums and percussion. This experience became the creative engine for Kid Flicks' next album. Highly influenced by contemporary Athenian life, multiculturalism and the internet culture, Kid Flicks created an album full of upbeat pop melodies, explosive percussion and an abundance of harmonised layers, drawing from various genres and styles.
