1, Originally forming in 1985, Last Orders are a West Auckland, New Zealand punk outfit that were playing gigs, drinking beer and recording demos when many of today’s punk bands were still wearing nappies, (no disrespect if you’re into wearing nappies, it’s a free country). But just like a cheap bottle of wine they never really improved with age.
The four distinct personalities in Last Orders help create an original take on a familiar sound. Tim is the original Kiwi Bloke who loves wearing singlets and writes songs in between drinking beer and watching porn. Steve is The Dreamer who always wanted to sing in a Boy Band but years drinking Vodka and chain smoking ruined his voice. The Stoner of the band is the bass player Fish, who gets musical inspiration from reading comics and watching the Discovery Channel. Greg is known as ‘The Hater’ and was an obvious choice for drums because after a hard day at work he just wants to hit something.
When listening to Last Orders a range of influences from the likes of Uk Subs, Motorhead, Bad Brains, The Exploited, Good Riddance, The Business and Sommerset, for example, can be heard without obviously been taken from them. Last Orders firmly believe that music is all about stealing other people’s ideas and lovingly molding them into something you can call your own.
The band all have day jobs to pay the bills but if you have a wee listen and buy a cd you’d be helping to help keep the dream alive and maybe one day they could tell the boss to bugger off.
2, Last Orders are a four peice, hard rock/blues/classic rock band from Northern Ireland.
Childhood siamese twins Eoghan McWilliams (vocals and guitar) and Ryan Magee (Bass) had been battering away at musical instruments together for years,be it a toy plastic guitar or a tissue box with elastic bands or a comb and piece of paper (such was the elaborate and extravagent nature of thier youthful Dungiven upringing). At the age of 19 Eoghan saw potential in a few of the jammin sessions and decided things needed to step up a gear. After contacting Ryan and asking him to play bass in this new venture, Magee packed in university in Nottingham to come back to North Ireland and do that music thing.Dee stewart, a local 'tramp' and son of well established drummer, entertainer and all round Dungiven god Jimmy 'Bastard ye are' stewart was recruited on the drums. With Eoghan's brother Brian on rhythm guitars, the 4 piece played numerous local gigs building a loyal and thirsty fan base.A year past and brian departed the outfit through a simple difference of interests.Eoghan,Ryan and Dee continued to rip out the jams while in the background where hunting for a new guitarist.Lo and behold they fell in with Danny O'neill a feeny native and a blurry fingered, big haired, lead guitaring leg-end completed the four piece once again.
Since then Last Orders have went from strength to strength; from 'loud' to 'up te the lash!' At first listen, the healthy blend of, balls-to-the-wall, Rock Agus F'n' Roll, heavy groove-laden riffs will stop you dead in your tracks and demand your head bang or your feet stomp along! From the opening vocal melody, you can tell, heres a hard-rockin band, that isnt compromised, as so many are, with sub-par singing! Each member in the band brings their own unique style and extensive musical backgrounds to the mix, each quietly confident and wholly competent in theyre instrumental assault! No quarters given, whether theyre practicing , recording or gigging! Whether heavy or laid-back, bluesy songs youre caught instantly and theres nout you can do but sing and rock along! With intricate embellished riffs, twin harmony leads, thunderous, intricate bass line's, pounding, invigorating drum beats, squealing, diving, singing, blistering lead fills and to put the icing on the cake a voice that'll send shivers down your back til youre trembling on the floor, this is a band thats rockin hard, enjoying what their doing and wont be stopped short of world domination! The uncompromising live stage show'll put hairs on your chests or breasts! Pushing the limits of every venue, every amp, every drum-kit thats big enough to stand on, covering every inch of ground and caressing you in their hypnotic grasp, Last Orders wont stop til the last patrons satisfied! Whether its playing in a local dive of a pub, outdoor festivals or breaking ground in uncharted territory, Last Orders are up to the task, staying the course and enjoying every rockin fn minute of it!!!
