There are at least two artists called Lucina. 1) Lucina is a brazilian singer, songwriter and many different instruments player. She began her professional carreer in 1967 as a member of Grupo Manifesto, and in 1972 she formed a duo with the singer-songwriter and instrumentist Luli (Luhli); for 25 years they worked together in a prestigious carreer. Then, in 1998, Lucina released her first solo album, beggining a new path to her music. In these 30 years of professional life, she made more than 500 shows all over countries like Switzerland, France, Germany and Holand, having about a hundred compositions recorded by herself, with Luli and with many other singers in the brazilian national artistic landscape. - 2) Lucina is a rising star in the music industry. Born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia, she moved to New York City in 2005 after receieving a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Yerevan State University. Over the next few years, while traveling to different countries, she actively pursued her passion: beginning a career in music. Since then, Lucina has come a long way, working with such talents as Guy Manoukian, Wyclef Jean, Jerry Wonda and Ear Candy. Following the major success of the hit single ‘On Tour’, in collaboration with Wyclef Jean, she signed a record deal with EMI Records. She’s especially fond of Armenian classical music. “I gained that love from my grandmother. I like Komitas’s works, many songs of our gusans and especially Sayat-Nova”, she says. With an album due to be released in January 2009, we can be sure to see a lot more of this fresh young talent over the coming years. www.lucinamusic.com
