Kicking off in 2010 as the soloist project of the Madrid born musician Amaya López-Carromero, Maud the moth has evolved through various formations. Starting from a piano, voice, and looper equipped one-woman-band, the project also dressed up as a trio and duo in the past, evolving and changing like the living organism it is. Maud the moth roots in a rich and broad musical background, always keeping a highly raw and intimate attitude. The songs escape traditional pop structures, progressing as heartful tales and drawing aesthetic elements from jazz, classical music, avant garde, soul, and in a more conceptual than formal way; metal. The release of the debut album in 2011 (Coedited by Nooirax, Noma Recs., Excellent Recs.) “Home Futile Home“, caught the attention of the Spanish specialized music press (Mondosonoro, H magazine, Rolling Stone Spain, Calle 20, etc.) and the project gained excellent reviews, both for her studio and live work. Maud the moth toured through Spain, Portugal, France and UK, where she currently resides. For her second studio work “The inner wastelands”, Maud the moth reaches even deeper into the emotional side. With more atmospheric and delicately crafted structures, the songs entwine into paths, weaving a highly coherent and solid album. Recorded and produced in Gothenburg by Crispin Anderson (Little dragon, House of Trees, Jack Cheshire…) during the summer of 2014, the record was imagined, outlined, arranged and finally produced in a process that started back in Spain and finished in Sweden more than two years later.
