Miaoux Miaoux, a.k.a. Julian Corrie, a 22 year old Glasgow based musician, creates stunning post-rock/electronica/breakbeat, and this album, released on his own Koshka Records, represents an astonishing debut for a young artist enjoying a creative high. A potent mixture of electronica, post-rock and good old-fashioned melody, Rainbow Bubbles has already drawn comparisons to the best works of artists such as Four Tet, Tortoise and Aphex Twin. Guitar lines weave around sinewaves, brutal drum breaks and vocoders to create a strange and beautiful sound: the fairground synths of the title track; the corrosive beats of Harbour Lights or Cherry Blossom Traffic; and the lovely Shadow-esque loops of I am a Microbe and Osaka Switch. Forthcoming projects include remixes for Glasgow indie luminaries Errors, The Royal We and Zoey Van Goey, as well as an insane unofficial techno reworking of Dizzee Rascal's recent smash Pussyole (Oldskool). With stunning live shows a world away from the email-checking cliché of most electronica acts, and already receiving Radio 1 airplay, Miaoux Miaoux is set to be a name to look out for in 2007.
